Comment: I grew up in Norris Green 1950-1972 in a parlour house on Townsend Ave. Your site has evoked many memories; particularly going to the ABC Minors on a Saturday morning at the Regal in Broadway and seeing the local live acts before the show. I remember Waterworths as the greengrocers at the Utting Avenue end of Broadway and Woods the grocers at the other end. I went on a Saturday to take and collect the laundry. The library was fantastic as I loved reading and remember the pride when I received my first adult ticket. We went to the baths both with school, Ranworth Square and on our own, that was where I learned to swim. Sorry. I'm now just wallowing in nostalgia - thanks for a great site.

Comment: Great site. Shame how the Government and local councils have let the Boot estate go the way it has and yet pump millions into the city for 2008. It was and still is a great place.

Comment: Just wanted to leave a quick note to say what a great website you have - I've just blinked and lost an hour of my life !

I lived in Norris Green from 1970 - 1995, on Ravensthorpe Green (off Scargreen Avenue). Also on our road was the 'Fiveys' - a group of 5 shops, much the same as the shops on Muirhead Avenue. Sadly they went downhill in the mid-80's, and were eventually demolished. They were replaced recently by some new houses.

Comment: . Nice site. Shame about Norris Green. I grew up in Wandsworth Road, now live in Hertfordshire, attended broad square. Left in 1952, then on to Abbotsford Road school. Left at 15 in 1956. There must be masses of school photos about but do I have any. Try and show more if poss. Good luck with this site and Hello to anyone who remembers me.

Comment: I have lived in Norris Green since I was two years old, I am now 47. My Father who would now be 75 moved into Mentmore Crescent when he was only about two.The Cunninghams they were called they used to have a horse and cart selling Auntsally disinfectant. My Mum also comes from Carsington Road and she also was about three when they moved in - they were the Dempseys. My Grandad Cunningham was the local bobby in the 30's.

Comment: I lived in Kinglsand Crescent, off Townsend Avenue from being born in 1952 until getting married in 1975. I would love to hear from any of my old friends, in particular, the two Williams', Holmes, Smethurst and Elaine Haigh.

Comment: It's good to see someone taking the time and trouble to chronicle the history of L11.  I always go for a walk around when I'm up in Liverpool and have been horrified by the desolation of recent years.  A shame, as the place was built with all the best intentions and the residents deserved better. I hope they make a better job of the redevelopment.
